My recent post “Freedom is Ego” seems to be too refreshing and I promissed to my dear readers to follow up with the topic.
I made a point that almost all the choices we make are ego-based. That means that this so-called freedom is also ego-based and in fact it is mostly only our ego that is free to choose!
The true freedom is only possible outside the ego-games, but this is not clear until one experienced it in the realm of spirituality…
Mr.Ego is ruling over people, every minute of that crazy daily life. But how can we identify him?
The trick is that our consciousness is constrained by the limits of our mind.
The mind, however well educated and developed is still stuck in a rut of narrow mental boundaries. This mind is never able to perceive The Reality as it is, for the same reason.
And within its limitations rules Mr.Ego: smart, clever, attractive and manipulative guy. He says” I am the best! Was I good? Look, I am so pretty!”
He is the one who wants to come forward and dominate. Interestingly, he has a twin-brother – Mr.Super-Ego, another clever guy that gets even more sympathy :” I am the most miserable, I am so unhappy, nobody loves me, nobody wants me..” – familiar with this song?
These too are often quarreling and make people swing from a hype to a deep depression, from right to left and back all the time.
To get the better gist of this idea I recommend an outstanding play by Steve Jones “Friends” performed by “The Theater of Eternal Values” – tons of laughs and insights are guaranteed!
But the easiest way to recognise that at this moment your Ego or Super-Ego are acting is this one: is your mind reacting? You want to argue? Find contra-arguments? Or may be you agree?
Any reaction of our mind is simply a game of these two guys.
THE TRUE SELF NEVER REACTS. It is just there.
LOVE, axinia
That pesky ego is a doozy! Thanks for sharing your inspirations & amazing photos.
