A friend sent me this great list of simple success-tricks, to which I completely agree because all my life experience proves every single point here. And yours?

I remember that someone once said one must want success as badly as a drowning man wants to breath and rest you will learn yourself.
When Hitler was at his peak (Just after the conquest of France except the Vichy part) and he went on to attack England, even Sir Winston Churchill would have lost all his enthusiasm. His spirit would have taken a bigger beating than all his countrymen.
People say, it is in spite of the real danger of losing his country (Love for his motherland that he cherished in his heart) that he rallied an entire nation to an unbelievable stalemate (and victory afterwards).
I say, it is because of the real danger of losing his country, and after having all possible enthusiasm for anything that he led his nation to an unbelievable victory.

DI, you really think the victory over Germany belongs to the British??? Intresting history books you read…:)
Your example is sophisticated but I think I can not really see the point…The Churchill example seem to the a brilliant case of Surrender (surrendering one’s ego and desires to the Will of God) and that is a totally different story to me.
Victory over Germany doesn’t belong to the British alone. But defending England when Germany went on an all out attack on England (before attacking Russia), definitely belongs to England.
Stalin’s reaction when Moscow was attacked might be attributed to the ‘brilliant case of surrender’, but not Churchill.

unfortunately Stalins reaction was not the “brilliant act of surrender”. In fact it is not because of him, but IN SPITE of him the Russian part of the Second World War was won. Shortly before the wor started he killed the military elite, the best heads and then he was supplying Hiltler… Stalin was actually the reason thy USSR lost about 26 Mil. of people (could have been much less!!!)
I must say I have to agree with Axinia on this. I am British by birth now living in Sydney, Australia. I grew up with a certain misty-eyed ‘view’ about Britain’s role in the Second World War nourished by black and white war movies, the chatter of relatives, and action comics glorifying Britain’s war effort. What supreme foolishness! At one time I actually thought the western allies beat Germany!
No argument: Russia won the Second World War. It was the dreaded Ostfront where Hitler’s extraordinary run of military successes faltered; perhaps the turning point was the battle of Stalingrad 1942/43, the bloodiest battle in modern history, with combined casualties estimated to be nearly 2 million. At the battle’s conclusion the Russian’s encircled the 6th Army group and captured Field Marshal Paulus and 300,000 troops, destroying much of the Luftwaffe in the process. From then on the Russian Army steadily and relentlessly battled its way back across Russia, the Ukraine and the Baltic nations, through Poland and into Germany until it finally took Berlin ahead of the allies in May 1945. The Russians continuously exposed to German military aggression on their own soil from 1941 bore the brunt of the fighting during the Second World War. The conditions the ordinary troops faced were horrific. Retreat and they were shot by NKVD men on their own side: if they surrendered or were captured, and liberated by their own troops Stalin punished them as traitors and sent them to the Gulag for desertion of the Motherland. He did this to his own son. But despite this an amazing, desperate, ferocious and ardent resistance was mounted and a powerful victory over the Germans brought about. Strangely during the battle of Stalingrad, the German’s fought beside 50,000 Russian’s they called HIWI’s, deserters from the red army who joined in with them. Later also, the Russian’s deployed German troops ‘who had come over to their side’ to fight against other fellow Germans.
Ordinary Russian soldiers are the great heroes of the Second World War. What they did to the female population of Berlin, in the first few days of conquest, where 90,000 rapes occurred is another story. But without a doubt it was Russia’s sacrifice and courage that crushed and exhausted Germany’s military capability and ended the War.

I am heavily impressed my your knowledge about the Second World war…Not many Westerners are aware of that. Thanks a lot for this clarificating – i would never have written so well and, besides, it may have sounded too kind of “boasting” if I would have written that.
This discussion reminds me of a Soviet cartoon I had as a child, it showed a pair of tongs dipping a figurine of Hitler into boiling oil…one handle was Russia while the other was the Allied block. Yes, it was a Soviet cartoon.

you know me so well, Swaps 🙂 In fact, that is the only point which I know is good but I am not very much into it. IN fact I am saving a bit every month, but then after some time I spend it again 🙂 I preffer to live in the present.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I may just be 19 years old (just turned this April 2nd), but I will do my best to live by these suggestions, even if I haven’t fulfilled them all.
