Slideshow: Winter in Vienna December 21, 2009

Finally a true winter feeling in Vienna – snow and -10 Degree Celsius! I love it. A snowy winter has its spell and it has been a rare gift in the recent years. Mostly we had warm, snowless winter times…

I made up a  slideshow of my recent photos  for you to share the joy:

Opera for everyone October 26, 2009

Have I already mentioned Vienna is the best city in the world? Apart from the official ranking results, I am deeply convinced about it myself.

Vienna is the City of Music, no doubt. The marketing works well and you will be reminded of that more often than anywhere else: in the city center you pass a duet of street singers, a small accordion band, a guitar soloist,

and finally come across about a hundred people staring up at an enormous outdoor LCD screen displaying live opera.

Since this summer Vienna has a new attraction: For the first time, selected performances are being broadcasted live on a giant screen in front of the State Opera House. Free to consume :).

Last night, while strolling around the city, I suddenly heard the sounds of my beloved Mozart from far away… OMG, was that beautiful! It felt so majestic and at the same time so natural, in a perfect harmony with the surroundings… (more…)

The magnetic mount January 21, 2009

I have been there. I have been enchanted by this magestic mount. And I could have meditated on it forever…

This very special for me mountain may not look so special at the first sight. Although its peak is quite artistic, one can find many similar hills in some regions of Maharashtra, India – by the way, it makes me think that Indian architecture is just the mirror of its nature…

This mount belongs to Saptashringi Hills (near Nasik, Maharashtra) famous for the great sage Markandeya who used to live there in ancient times. As a beautiful outcome of his enlightenment and mediations we have got Markandeya Purana, one of the Puranas or secondary Hindu scriptures.

I can honestly say that this mount (or hill?) fascinates me even more than the powerful Devi Swayambhu (self-manifested divinity, mostly as a stone), which is on the opposite hill. The story tells that (more…)

UEFA Cup 2008, Austria vs. Germany June 16, 2008

Tonight there was a football battle between Austria and Germany. The Austrian media tried their best to blow the air up and mobilize the Austrian fans against the Germans. That was really too much of hatred!

At the same time when the play was going on, I took a stroll around on of the most beautiful Vienna parks – Belvedere – and shot some photos… The air was so very much peaceful and the sky was pink-golden…

Can you imagine that just some km away from that place the emotions-charged football play between the arch-rivals Germany and Austria took place?

LOVE; axinia
