How to find out if your Kundalini rises April 3, 2013

The energy of  Kundalini  is quite present in the modern life, today more than ever before. The signs of a 3,5 coiled energy became a popular image in marketing, for it’s a beautiful design element and it echoes in our collective consciousness. Although it is being so widely used I doubt that people really know its meaning and power.

kundalini

Wikipedia gives some information about Kundalini but most of it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT. It looks like some people tried to awaken this sacred energy being not authorized for it, and they got very strange, if not terrifying results.  I am puzzled how practitioners of so-called Kundalini yoga describe the sensations they get calling it rising Kundalini this way:

(and belive me this is NOT what Kundalini feels like)

  • Involuntary jerks, tremors, shaking, itching, tingling, and crawling sensations, especially in the arms and legs
  • Energy rushes or feelings of electricity circulating the body
  • Intense heat (sweating) or cold, especially as energy is experienced passing through the chakras
  • Headache, migraine, or pressure inside the skull
  • Increased blood pressure and irregular heartbeat
  • Emotional numbness
  • Antisocial tendencies
  • Mood swings with periods of depression or mania
  • Pains in different areas of the body, especially back and neck
  • Sensitivity to light, sound, and touch
  • Trance-like and altered states of consciousness
  • Disrupted sleep pattern (periods of insomnia or oversleeping)
  • Loss of appetite or overeating

I mean are they all masochist?!? Why practice something which gives you such horrid discomfort and suffering? I believe a truly spiritual practice must give one the enlightenment and bliss and not horror.

Luckily there have been wonderful saints and prophets all over the world, in different religions and spiritual practices who have given the exact description of Kundalini as of a cool breeze. Even some musicians and artists have referred to this cooling sensation.

kundalinin-coil1Since my Kundalini was awakened 17 year back, and I have felt and have been “working” with this amazing energy for such a long time, I feel authorized enough to give a list of REAL KUNDALINI RISING sensations. This list can be confirmed by many millions of people who have experienced the same (unfortunately they are all too shy or to self-sufficient to post about it).

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR KUNDALINI IS RISING?

  1. If you sit with the rounded back, slowly or suddenly your back will get straight, you may even not notice that. The upright position is possible even for people with spine cord problems when their Kundalini rises.
  2. Your nose will breathe much “lighter”, even without any special exercises – this is the sign that Kundalini has passed the Hamsa chakra (between the eyebrows).
  3. You may feel the cooling energy rising upwards your spinal cord, mostly on the back, although some people can feel it within, inside the body.
  4. You will feel cool breeze in your hands, and interestingly – when the breeze gets stronger your hand will open up on their own.
  5. After meditation with well risen Kundalini you may feel the need to “wash off” your face with your hands. You eyes will glow and your face will shine with peace and beauty!
  6. Tickling and warm sensation in different parts of the body can be a sign of Kundalini rising and doing it’s clearing work. Ultimately and ideally this must end up in getting the cool breeze on top of head and in the hands
  7. The cool breeze pouring down your head or even all over the body gives the feeling of the absolute bliss and dissolution, feels like Nirvana and cannot be mistaken for anything else! This is the ultimate goal of any yoga and it is the easiest to reach by the sahaja yoga practice.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, founder of Sahaja Yoga

Today, for one year… February 23, 2012

Today, for one year the most amazing and powerful female incarnation left this Earth.

It may take years, decades or even centuries for the mankind to realize

what kind of miracle has been bestowed upon it by this incredible lady.

Whatever then humans have been searching for, the meaning of life,

the realisation of Self was granted by this majestic Yogi to everyone.

And will be always granted in the future, because her disciples can easily pass it on.

SHRI MATAJI NIRMALA DEVI,

the most mysterious , the greatest Guru of all times.

The Mother you have been longing for.

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi was a visionary February 25, 2011

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (21.03.1923 -23.02.2011)

She was a visionary willing to share her view of a better world that includes a place for each of us, side by side, as one. She was also the founder of Sahaja Yoga, a worldwide movement in over a hundred countries. The yoga is the practical application of her vision.

The problem with visionaries is that there is a fine line that separates their vision from everybody else’s dream. That line, as fine as it is, is an important one. People will ask the simple question “How do we get there? Unless there is a practical solution, what’s the use?” The gap between the vision and the reality will, for many people, always be unbridgeable.

This was not the case with Shri Mataji. Her experience was deep. From her days in the ashram of Mahatma Gandhi to her nation’s fight for freedom, she showed that she very much understood this world. She knew who we were and where we were going. She knew our culture better than we do, our souls and our dreams.

In short, the key to opening the door, the practical solution that she offered was something very simple. It is Self-realization.

Remember those dreams you had of the perfected society, the harmonious people, the contentment and tranquility? Remember those book you read – Siddhartha and The Prophet – the stories of enlightenment, rumours of the Buddha, inner knowledge and true peace. It is like that.

And why not?

Enlightenment and attainment and vision are not just the property of the distant past, nor the promise a remote future.

One day promises have to be fulfilled. We cannot always live in the realm of future hope.

As Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi would say: It can all happen now.

Are you an intellectual? October 1, 2009

Intellectuals are those nice people who think they reach their destination merely by studying the road map.Gregoir de Kalbermatten

I love this quote! I was a classical intellectual since my childhood – books meant everything to me and mental knowledge was the measure of all things. At some point I realised that this leads nowhere, that I dramatically miss the REAL knowledge. And I did not mean the knowledge of what is called “life experiences”, no. It was the longing for something else, something universally accessable and clear, powerful and very practical… I was fed up with studying the road map, I wanted finally to reach my destination.

And it turned out to be possible! The guide was called (more…)

What actually happens when you get into the meditative mood April 2, 2009

“…but in meditative mood you are alone. No one exists there. You alone. And once you enter into that ocean then the whole world becomes your whole family. The whole world is your own manifestation. All the children become your children. And you treat all people with equal understanding. The whole expansion takes place when you enter inside ‘your’ spirit and start seeing through eyes of the spirit. There’s such calm, such peace, such bliss within you. (more…)

The encounter March 21, 2009

I was what they call a seeker of truth since my early teens. I was keen on intellectual knowledge and thirsty for understanding myself and the world. At 12 I loved to discuss geopolitical issues, historical findings and scientific discoveries. At 16, while my classmates were getting drunk and having sex with each other, I was in love with philosophy and psychology and a magazine ” Questions of Philosophy” was my table book along with fashion magazines (yes, my quest for beauty was also there!). At 20 I was already so full off all possible knowledge that I reached to the point of desperately wanting soemthing REAL, some knowledge that is practical, that would enable me to implement all I learned, some knowledge that would stimulate my spiritual ascent and not only my intellectual development. At that time I finally realised that my seeking was of a spiritual nature, for I was stuffed by mental knowledge to a great extend. And I realised that I need someone who will guide me on this way.

How I found to Sahaja Yoga and what happened to me I described in an earlier post here. Today I want to share with you some  thoughts on my encounter with the Sahaja Yoga’s founder, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi and that for a good reason (read in the end of this post).

I could have posted some information from Sahaja Yoga site telling who Shri Mataji is, her background and her contributions. But I will not do that. I personally can tell about the greatness of a personly only by the imact of this person on my life. I preffer the knowledge born in the depth of my heart, which is personal experience based (my long-term readers know that!).

.

When I met Shri Mataji at 1996 what really stroke me was her incredible humility. “She has NO EGO!!” – that was my first thought because it appeared to me totally incredible. As someone who was far away from being humble, I was very sensitive on ego-issues. That was quite an experience! Since then I never met anyone about whom I would say so. Even small children – I can clearly see their ego play.

Time passed and as I took to Sahaja Yoga which appeared to be exactly what I was searching for: simple and profound, clear and very practical in every sense of it (reasons given here). Shri Mataji’s personality and teachings had made a great impact on my personal life and spiritual developments. What I value the most in this encounter is: (more…)

Mountain July 29, 2008

Mountain

I see a mountain from my window
Standing like an ancient sage
Desireless, full of love.
So many trees and so many flowers
They plunder the mountain all the time.
It’s attention is not disturbed
And when the rain pours like
Many pitchers of clouds bursting
And it fills the mountain with greenery.
The storms may come soaring,
Filling the lake with compassion
And the rivers flow running down
Towards the calling sea.
The sun will create clouds and
Wind carries on its feathery wings
The rain on to the mountain.
This is the eternal play
The mountain sees
Without desires.

The purpose of the Japanese Gardens July 12, 2008

In Japan we had a great master whose name was Vidhitama. He was the disciple of Lord Buddah and he went to Japan and started the Zen system. Zen means meditation-dhyana – and he wanted people to become “thoughtlessly aware”. He found out many ways of making people “thoughtlessly aware” – the tea ceremony and the temples that they have, are all meant to create thoughtless awareness.

I was amazed that none of the Japanese knew what the purpose of these gardens were. There is one garden which has some moss on top of a hill in a very small area and it is very interesting. You have to see the flowers and other foliage there through a magnifying glass. And this should amaze a person and one should become thoughtlessly aware.

A letter of Mother March 8, 2007

To my flower children

You are angry with life

Like small children

Whose Mother is lost in Darkness

Your sulk expressing despair

At the fruitless end of your journey

You wear Ugliness to discover Beauty

You name everything false in the name of Truth

You drain out emotions to fill the cup of Love

My sweet children, my darling

How can you get peace by waging war

With yourself, with your being, with joy itself

Enough are your efforts of renunciation

The artificial mask of consolation

Now rest in the petals of the lotus flower

In the lap of your gracious Mother

I will adorn your life with beautiful blossoms

And fill your moments with joyful fragrance

I will anoint your head with Divine Love

For I cannot bear your torture anymore

Let me engulf you in the ocean of joy

So you lose your being in the Greater one

Who is smiling in your calyx of self

Secretly hidden to tease you all the while

Be aware and you will find Him

Vibrating your every fibre with blissful joy

Covering the whole Universe with light.

Mother Nirmala
