1000 petals by axinia

the only truth I know is my own experience

Crème de la crème of this blog (30 out of 300 posts) October 29, 2008

My passionate reader, Sahaja has suggested me to make a list of my favourite  1000petals reads. I have a widget listing the most popular posts by my readers, but they are not necesserily the ones that I love the most 🙂

My favourite posts give a short and clear impression of the core values of this blog.  If you like the first abstract, just click on the title to read the whole post.

GENERATION S

They live almost the same life as others. You will not check them out of the crowd by their funny dress – they look quite ordinary. They behave as normal, nice people – you will not notice anything special at first sight. However a little more attentive look will identify this new generation.

Positive thinking? No, thank you!

I am probably one of the most positive people you have ever met (even being able to claim that is a sign, isn’t it). In fact I think positive all the time and it is difficult for me to see a problem somewhere where most of the people see it. But since I heard about the concept of positive thinking several years ago I keep opposing that theory, trying to explain the unnatural character of it. Here are some quite strong arguments.

I do not believe in God.

I do not belive in God. And I never did.

I grew up in the Soviet Union with my both parents being convinced atheists. However my grand-grandparents who were born and grew up in Czar Times, were very religious. One grand-grandmother was known to be a holy person in her village; another one could heal with praying.

Once, when I was 8 years old, I bet with my grand-grandma Nura (who was a deeply religious Christian-orthodox) that God did not exist. I said: “I will spit now in the sky. If there is God he will punish me immediately!” – Nothing happened afterwards; I won the bet and was even more convinced in my atheism.

Freedom is Ego

Freedom is the favorite mantra of the western society. It is the magical word people use left and right to explain their most odd interests and ideas. Freedom is on top of the value system. But how can anybody be free and make choices based on so called freedom when he does not know himself??

We feel that we are free to make our choices: the choice between toast or sandwich or maybe the choice between pizza or pasta. Fine.

Now the clothing: how can we be free persons if we are actually forced to buy the things that are right now in, otherwise we just don’t get anything else in the shops.

No need to mention so called political freedom when every President selections our poor brains are being manipulated to such extend that God save us from knowing it in details! (more…)

What`s in Russian eyes? September 28, 2008

In 2001 Mr. G.Bush surprised the world with his memorable description of his Russian counterpart. “I looked the man in the eye,” Mr. Bush said of Putin after their meeting in Slovenia, adding, “I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

In 2008, John McCain told the Republican Jewish Coalition that he saw something else entirely when he met the Russian leader: “I looked into Mr. Putin’s eyes and I saw three things — a K and a G and a B.”

Shortly after Obama said that he wants to pay attention to Putin’s actions, not his eyes. Foreign policy should not be set by an opinion of a leader’s eyes.

I believe there was no other president in the history whose eyes have been such a popular topic 🙂

Another take: I once met a professional in the field of Intercultural communication, she looked at me and said “You must be Russian, you have typical Russian eyes”. (more…)

Grammar is universal, languages are different August 8, 2008

That study could not leave me indifferent not only because of its amazing results, but also becasue the subject of languages is so dear to me. Apart from that I love theories  – and their proof! – showing the unity, the general oneness of all human beings. The recent research at the University of Chicago gives a good illustration to that.

“Not surprisingly, speakers of different languages describe events using the word orders prescribed by their language. The surprise is that when the same speakers are asked to ‘speak’ with their hands and not their mouths, they ignore these orders – they all use exactly the same order when they gesture,” said Susan Goldin-Meadow, the Bearsdley Rum Distinguished Service Professor in Psychology.

For the study described in the paper, the team tested 40 speakers of four different languages: 10 English, 10 Mandarin Chinese, 10 Spanish and 10 Turkish speakers. They showed them simple video sequences of activities and asked them to describe the action first in speech and a second time using only gestures. (more…)

Awesome photos from my divine holidays July 23, 2008

When I came back from my truly divine holidays I found in my camera almost only the awesome shots of the sunsets, clouds and landscapes. Although I met a couple of thousands of people, my attention was obviously somewhere else…

Our life is full of manifestations of Divine. However it is the majestic pictures of landscapes or skyscapes that makes us understand the UNITY OF THE WHOLE. It does good to see that there is a life behind the clouds, that there are masterpieces of art and fantastic scenes beyond our knowledge and imagination. It is good to know that there is still so much to discover and to enjoy – and this is the secret story behind.

The story of never-ending DIVINE LOVE.

I was fascinated by that scenery, especially some minutes later when the cloud line became so exact. It felt like the huge dramatic curtain falling slowly from above – and the perfect peace of disillusion down there:

And what would you say about that? -the whole sky in vivid salmon lines:

That looks to me like a N. Roerich paint:

And what about that spectacular sunset?

There, in the depth of the sky, there are wings of angels resting on the clouds…

…and the veil-like path for those willing to walk on the clouds:

And, finally I was stunned to see such a perfect line above the clouds like the board of the Mother-Earth`s sari…

LOVE; axinia
