Removing anger April 5, 2009

Anger destroys. It ruins lives, relationships, careers, personalities. It scars children and friendships, and eats aways at the soul. No one would deny that it is a thing to be avoided, but unfortunately everywhere we turn we see evidence of the anger which lurks inside the human psyche. Newspapers are TV report constantly talk of angry groups and individuals; all of them infuriated by some injustice, decision or insult.

People are routinely described as “outraged” and “furious”, whilst little attention is paid to voices of conciliation or modesty. Critics vent their wrath on features to which they take exception; bad meals, bad art, rotten holidays. We seem to be fascinated by anger and rage and at the same time intimidated by it. Terrorists use anger and rage as their weapon of fear, and it works insofar as it creates a climate of suspicion and mistrust in their target societies.

Yogis understand the reasons for the anger in modern times, and battle constantly to overcome this destructive emotion. (more…)

People with big ego undergo hard humiliation tests October 27, 2008

That is another observation from my life: people with big ego undergo hard humiliation tests.

In my life I am mostly surrounded by people who have great personalities – and that means not only being intelligent, brilliant, talented, charismatic but also also having a big portion of ego. Either this ego is the driving force to develop such a personality or one grows a big ego realising what a wonderful person she/he is. That is the part of the game, I guess, and probably the hardest of all 🙂

One interesting thing I noticed is that at a certain period of their life such people get in severe ego-tests undergoing a hard humiliation of their most precious values. Mostly it is in the realm of relationships, but can be in a friendship or at work. What kind of tests?

The game goes like that: one finds himself in a desirable situation, but can not get the ultimate of it. Because something is missing. This “something” is however the crucial point here and the person suffers. Example: a charming and adorable girl is in love relationship with a man who does not want to marry her although he loves her. The marriage would mean a full acceptance and appreciation for her, but she can not get it from him. Another beauty leaves her husband for the “better man” and faces constant humiliation in her wound point. Interestingly, everyone around can clearly see the absurdity of such relationship but a person stays “blind”. (more…)

Why innocent people have less problems October 4, 2008

“Children have no problems” goes the common saying, for children are (normally) taken care of, they (normally)  don`t need to work or basically do no face that cruel big world outside. It is the power of innocence that protects children from most of the troubles. As children grow up, the problems seem to grow with them. Or at least with most of them.

There are people who, like they say, never grow up. I do not mean those who, being adults have “childish” hobbies or behave like naughty children. I mean those, who never grow old with their innocence, who are children at heart.

What I noticed is that such people indeed have less problems, in any aspect of life.  Are they so careless and do not bother? Are they not serious enough? Are they just silly? Let me share with you my observations and conclusions on this topic. (more…)

What happens when you start to meditate September 24, 2008

One of the difficulties that many people face when they first start to meditate is working out whether they are doing the meditation properly and whether it is having a beneficial effect. Strangely enough this is not so much an issue in the first two weeks or so as it is later on, after the initial period of familiarisation is over.

The early days of meditation are usually marked by a general feeling of well-being. For many people, this is the time that they will have experienced a true spiritual practice in action, and their subtle system really flowers under the attention. They feel happy, many start sleeping better and may find their heart opening in the most unexpected ways. (more…)

Supposition: why multiple intelligence theory can be vital for a happy marriage September 21, 2008

The Multiple Intelligence Theory introduced by Dr. Howard Gardner in 1983 is one of my favourites to explain the human nature and interactions. The traditional (western) take on intelligence is linguisticaly and logical-mathematically based (known as IQ). However that does not work for everyone, as there is obviously more variety of intelligences. Here is the Gardner`s classification:

bullet Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”):
bullet Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”)
bullet Spatial intelligence (“picture, space smart”)
bullet Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”)
bullet Musical intelligence (“music smart”)
bullet Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”)
bullet Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”)
bullet Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”)

More recently, Gardner (1998) has nominated two additional candidate intelligences: Spiritual and Existentional ones, however he was less sure about how to define and incorporate them.

The theory says, a person has some of these intelligences highly developed, some less.

This is a cross-post from my Shaktipower Blog, my supposition on how multiple intelligence theory is connected with a happy marriage you will find here.

I am a blog-mama! May 22, 2008

Once upon a time one lady-researcher introduced blogging to me (thanks God, it was WordPress that I learned). Since then I have been badly into blogging – increasingly.

I started with the idea of emancipating women from emancipation (Shaktipower) and then realised that I can/want actually keep more than one blog – because there is much more I want to share.

Intrestingly, my feeling of a blog in the beginning was like of a home where I invite people to be my guests and to share with me the delight of life… I even wrote a post on that – The sense of Blogging. Some more time passed and I noticed that my attitude to blogging changed – now I feel blogs are like my babies 🙂 I feed them with new content, check their health (stats and comments), take care of their looks and of their friends… A very parential attitude, isn`t it?

It has been 1,5 years since I startet blogging and the number of my babies increased considerably. Today there are 6 of them: (more…)
