What is creativity? November 3, 2008
painting by Andrea Brück
We live in a time when creativity is seen either as a passport to material riches, or as something to be cynically criticised and attacked. Those who can, create, but timorously and always with a guarded eye turned towards the criticism of others. Artists doubt the value of their work, until they either give up in despair, or -hiding behind an artificially pumped ego – they manage to assert their mastery and gain recognition through sheer grit and dogged determination.
However as any true artist readily admit, real creativity is much more that a super charged ego, a fancy car and some astute self-promotion. It is a secret, magical alliance between talented and heartfelt application and divine inspiration. This combination of heart and spirit is what gives sublime art its power to shape epochs. We can always recognise the divinity of true art simply by measuring its enduring and widespread appeal. (more…)
East and West September 10, 2008
In the West, Intellect is the source of life.
In the East, Love is the basis of life.
Through Love, Intellect grows acquainted with Reality,
And Intellect gives stability to the work of Love,
Arise and lay the foundations of a new world,
By wedding Intellect to Love.

It is really possible? I would say no, because I also never heard anybody singing Russian songs with a greater expression than Russians themselves…
However I am not sure any more when it comes to Indian Arts, because they seem to be of a para-national character (due to their spiritual character? – I guess spirit is an international unity).
Since years I am very much interested in Indian Arts, which are incredibly beautiful and (alas!)still largely unknown in the West. I have seen many performances of Indian masters (vocal, instrumental and dance) live and on videos which gave me quite a feeling for this special art.
The other day I read in the RIAN Russian news about the Indian Dance Festival that has taken place in New Delhi this week: 6 artists from Japan, USA, France, Ukraine, South Corea and Croatia performed before Indian public their art of the Indian Classical Dance (different styles).
An artist who was interview I know personally and therefore my interest was drown to that article even more (an abstract translated by me): “Lena Lakshmi from Ukraine lives in India since 10 years and studies Indian Classical Dance kuchipudi in Chennai, South India. Lena referrers to the traditional Indian dance as an art, which is full of awareness and spirituality, compared to the Western Classical dance. (more…)
How to get on easy with everyone February 28, 2007
Today I want to share with you one of my best communication tricks.
But first you should know that whatever tricks I am using, it is all authentic, coming from my own self and not being learned or trained. It took me some time to realise that these are actually tricks :).
My best communication trick works on the basic human quality described here. I guess, it will not work without it!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you meet a person, just see her/him as a child!
When you address a person, address a child in her/him.
Of cause you should not speak to a person, as you would speak to a child, but deep within you just keep this feeling of being children on the same playground.
WHY DOES IT WORK?
Addressing a child in a person, you switch on the most powerful element in us – the innocence. It is the root of every human being, and even if it is covered with all sorts of stupid things, it is still there!
Innocence works like a magnet – we all know that animals are very innocent and they act according to the magnet field of the Earth. So does our innocence, it acts like a magnet and it attracts the innocence in others to us.
I was happy to find out that this trick works with somebody else as well: a colleague of mine, a successful oil trader who is on good terms with the half of the world and one of the best communicators I know told me once that he sees all people as his classmates. That is his trick for successful negotiation – and he is just great in it!
And what I really like about it is that you are absolutely safe and comfortable in every communication – the roughest person calms down and the most arrogant one humbles down…
It can be your boss, a prime minister or a queen – when you see a child in a person, you are on the same level and they accept it!
