Axinia, I couldnt help but notice your “vedanta philosophy”. And in answer to your “I hope only Indians will keep it up and do not loose under the western inflence…”, I as an Indian feel that it is already so..
At the moment there are a few good people out there, but the rest of us are buried in corporate greed.. Progress is not bad, but cloned progress without an individual stamp is a little sad.
Thats how mighty nations (cultural not physical) collapse I guess.. As an expatriate, i finally know how many things I took for granted while I was in India.

I absolutely agree with you!!
1st: I met a Russian woman (from SPB) and I adore her tremendously.
For me Russian women are soooo feminine and proud to be Russian, something, I think, European women forgot or lost (in Holland anyway)
I respect and love her for her humor, intelligence and practicality.
She is not a supermodel (her words), but such a sweet, caring and considerate person. I love her eyes and smile and we are very open to each other.
We have a very good friendship and she took it upon herself to visit me in Holland.
We talk a lot about authors, art, poems, but also about our personal life.
About Russia?
Yes, you have more freedom then we in Europe, but thats my personal opinion.
If European/American men would listen they will find out that Russian women love old fashion values like…opening a door, helping with her coat, be a gentlemen all the time and above all HONESTY!!!
I could write for hours in superlatives to describe a Russian woman, but I just wanted to let you know my encounter with a Russian woman

Today my colleague suggested I blog about dogs. I thought, of course! I love dogs, I own dogs, I enjoy reading about dogs and can talk about them day and night. But what do I call my blog? How about whiskers, paws and tails (privet Matrosskin!)? That wasn’t the most original idea, but it doesn’t matter, because this is how I came upon this gem of a blog. I came across your blog early last year and I have almost read every single post 😉
You have a wonderful way of writing and expressing yourself which I believe helps others gain insight in their own life and helps in their own meditation (which can be something as simple as taking time to write thoughts down on paper). I particularly enjoy the posts in which there are survey questions as I always enjoy reading what others write (everyone will answer these questions differently) and I can use these questions in my personal life when I do my own sort of meditation. My other favorites are your posts that have to do with philosophy.
I am fully Russian (I am not from Russia though) and from my research Russians/East Europeans seem to have more intuition than individuals from other countries. They are more in tuned with their surroundings, make more conscious decisions etc. (I see this in your blog and other Russian’s blogs) Based from what I read, I conclude that this is because of the lack of materialism and Hollywood in these locations but there is more, I am sure. My great-grandmother was a psychic and my mother and I both get premonitions, I do have a very spiritual/religious background from my ancestors in my family tree. I am very curious though because when I read things on “Russian character,” I read very deep writings on this. When I look up other countries’ characters, the writing seems to only reach the surface.
If I could make a blog request 🙂 🙂 I would love to hear your intake on this topic! Why do Russians seem to have more intuition? Why do they seem to have deeper insight? It almost seems to me that Russians naturally have this “gift” but I do believe all people can have something similar if they desire this but it will take some work and dedication! I think some who are naturally intuitive can struggle with looking deeper, below the surface level.

Well, I have been asking this question about Russians myself quite often in earlier days. On the one hand, throughout my life I have met quite a few really deep people with wonderful souls and that of all nationalities…On the other hand I know very well what you mean and I also sometimes doubt if this is a subjective or objective observation. -Who Founded Russia? :: I don’t like using stereotypes but if I had to, typically I can define North American individuals (haven’t look much at other countries) but beyond the typical stereotypes of “goth, preppy” etc. With Russians though, I never can…it’s a mixture of politics, art, spirituality…and other qualities that I cannot define. It’s like you said that Russia itself is a mixture of different cultures, nations…so are the people.
-The Phenomenon Of Russian Spirituality… :: I found the quotes really interesting, “quotes to live by” is what I think. I have Doukhobor heritage, perhaps you have heard of this group from Russia and they have a prayer that your article reminded me of. I love Lord Budhah too. But a mistake, which he too realisd was there. There was no need for leaving his wife and son.
The only question the great soul didnt have an answer for , was askd by Yashodhara , his wife. When budhah had gone to ask for ‘biksha’.
She askd “Would i or Rahula, be a obstacle in your path? Couldnt you hav done the same with us, which you are possible to do sitting under bodhi tree ?”
he had no answer.

I am Dr, Jagadish Joshi from India, now retired from Government job. I do blogging in Gujarati on wordpress.com ( http://bestbonding.wordpress.com ). I have tried to understand soul, body, cosmic energy etc. since I was studying in college. Recently I read an experience of one blogger on Muladhar bhedan. He has written that he feel coldness in pelvic area then feels something scrawling upward. He saw Ganapati (Hindu God), bright light, also feel cold drops falling in pelvic area. I always expect, someone who has practiced Yoga, share his/her views with me with open mind.
I believe that our body is dense form of energy, (like Ice, in vapour – water – ice system.).
During Vipasana training, Shri Goenkaji, teaches that body at micro (sukshm sharira) level body is only ‘waves’. During Vipasana we have to concentrate our brain at such level that we can feel this ‘waves’ and feel that the ‘body’ changing every seconds.
I also believe that our thoughts stay in Aura body. (Aura body is nothing but the dense vapour like energy and thoughts are still more in dense form) Shri Goenkaji teaches that we should train our brain in the manner that it can travel forcefully through the Aura body, so that thoughts are diffuse – relevant to our ‘Karm’ and we can free our self from all that old stuff and get Moksha (Nirvan). In Reiki training similar things come across, in that, during Reiki, we are getting energy from Universal energy, which cleans our Aura body.
Our ‘Chakra’ system is like energy enhancing system. When emerging passes through ‘chakra’ it gets more activated. (Similar to energy particles passes through ‘accelerators’, well known example is the research on God particle – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particle_accelerator and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider )
When energy releases from Muladhar chakra, it passes through ‘Ida Nadi’ i.e. one of the three energy channel, then it passes through ‘Swdhisthan Chakra’ gets more energy, similarly it travel upto ‘Agna chakra’, then it returns through ‘Pigla Nadi’ passing through again all lower chakras and again it enters in ‘Susumna Nadi’ and passing again through all charkra, gets very high energy and ultimately crosses the break between ‘Agna chakra’ and ‘Sahastrar Chakra’ and emerge in universe through ‘Sahstrar Chakra’ (‘Sahstrar Chakra has 1000 petals so it give highest thrust, similar to we have to give high thrust to rockets to break earth’s gravitational barrier to go to ‘space’)
According to this logic, body should feel heat, but some people say there is ‘cold’ feelings are also there.
Whatever, but I would like to know that – do you feel the above logic is true ?

i can only say that in various scripts, not only Hinduistic but also Christian or Islamic or in other traditions, the rising of Kundalini energy is described as a COOL BREEZE, (named diffferently of course, but the mechanism is the same). And also millions of people all over the world already have been experienceing the same senstaion since the 1970 when Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi has discovered this method of en-mass Kundalini awackening. That is all I know – theory and practice.

I am writing this to seek information about whether to practice foot soaking daily along with meditation in sahaja yoga. I have been a sahaja yoga practitioner for the past 6 years and I do foot soaking daily ,but recently i came across a post which says foot soaking should not be practiced for life time,that it should not be made a ritual. Is it fine to practice meditation without foot soaking on daily basis. I did a research on the internet regarding the same and found that only few lectures of Shri Mataji contains information on foot soaking.

zdravstvuite ! I was born and brought up in a town which had lot of Russians as the town has a huge steel plant which came up with Russian collaboration. My father was trained in Russia to work in that plant so he spent a good one year in Russia and could speak Russian very fluently.
He told us a thousand stories about Russia and how wonderful the people are. Moreover, in out town too we made quite a few Russian friends and they were all very polite and fabulous people. They gave us children Russian toffees everytime they would walk past our playing grounds. Those were moments of great joy for us kids as Russian toffees were very unique and bigger than our Indian ones.
I am a what you say “puritan” Hindu or Indian and i treasure my great Ancient heritage. However, our government since Independence has systematically tarnished and stigmatized Hindu ethos so this present fourth generation is brazenly anti-Hindu and anti-Hindu culture. I am Appalled at its state but feel helpless all the time. Your blog about Russian- Sanskrit was very touching. That people so far away are exploring true roots of their culture….even if it proves to be in some other culture. And here is a country like India which is hell bent upon dumping its history and culture as it has come to accept the western education and western lifestyle as the “only right way to live” and feels ashamed of its Hindu traditions which are considered “Backward” !!!!

This tendency is unfortunately everywhere, although as far as I know they try to combat it in Russia…In fact I want to write a post about the real reason why such great ancient cultures like Indian and Chinese have felled under the Western spell. Can you please tell me why are most people keep on staring at me and most of them get really scared and change route when I notice them or make an eye contact… Also I experience a regular pour of something (energy may be) over me..
