I saw a funny lamp in a shop-window
“How ugly!” – thought I and moved on.
A friend of mine has bought that lamp
I saw it lit up: “How beautiful!” – thought I.
How often do we pass by a funny, miserable person
And walk away?
How often do we light up the others
When we really can?

I sometimes think when we love, we see people with their lamps lit. When we do not love, we see people without their lamps lit. Does that make any sense?
Wonderful thought!!! Then why not always love?
More beauty…
lovely poem!
hi again, your poem was quite beautiful, but was it originally like this or it was in Russian and the translation you put here ?
Anyway it is so nice.

thank you 🙂
the lines were written very spontaneosly I was too careless to check them 😦
I wrote it in English, but yes, poetic English is difficult and I could not manage that well…anyway I wanted to express the feeling of this sudden “lamp” discovery I experienced.
spontaneous work has better vibration most of the time than complex literal couplets 😉
thanks for beautiful poem and hope to have ‘diwali’ round the planet earth … JSM.
by the way, …
I changed your poem a bit, hope you don’t mind :))) see if you like it like this 😉
