A book “Expecting to Fly” is one of such diamonds. The rare beauty of it lays in the fascination and depth of author’s experiences. Yes, it is all about experiences on the seeking path. Ultimately it is all what really makes sense I belive.

The book “Expecting to Fly” is autobiographical, Patrick Sheridan is a classical seeker from the 60- 70-s with heavy alcohol and drug background. I found it an intriguing read to learn about his journey which came out to be quite spiritual. This was all totally unfamiliar to me. I always had  a natural dislike for all kinds of chemical substances like cigarets, alcohol and drugs  – never tried and never wanted them. I have been that kind of intellectual seeker who searched for Truth only on the mental level. Ultimately I found out that the Truth is something beyond the mind and can be experienced rather mundane even as a physical sensation…Yes, generally my seeking approach was of a totally different art than that of Patrick. That is why I was keen on reading about some different experiences which led a great seeker to – surprise, surprise! – the same Truth.

The author depicts his life beginning with childhood, stept by step unfolding his seeking nature. The excessive drinking and drug consume of his youth are quite impressive – although there are lots of people practicing it too, I find it remarkable to read that someone has done all that and is still alive and flourishing…trully amazing. The author stated that in fact it was his drug experiences (in particular LSD) which let him first experience the high state of consciousness and realize that there is something beyond the reality we think we live in. The LSD trips had such an impact on the author that the descriptions of it could almost be taken for a drug advertisement. However later on he admits that the occasional highs are leading nowhere because of lack of system behind and dramatic health and subtle system damage. At some point Patrick meets a Yogi Lady (Shri Mataji) who unveils the Mystery to him through granting the pure high drug-free experiences. The author quoits Shri Mataji saying later on that “drugs could open up realms of experience not meant for human beings, however intriguing they might appear. Once she likened it to venturing behind the scenes in a power plant where dangerous forced were at work, instead of tapping the energy at its intended point of use”.

I like the way author shares his first encounter with Shri Mataji: “ My first feeling was one of surprise. I had anticipated a hasted, mystical atmosphere and was confronted instead by an extraordinary Indian lady, who seemed ten times more alive than anyone I had met before. My surprise quickly grew into astonishment as I realised that everything around me seemed full of light, and I sensed tremendous spiritual power being commanded in the room. I felt as if I stumbled out of a jungle path onto a broad, royal highway, and I had the oddest sensation of having somehow walked inside tha pages of a Bible – as if a scene from a biblical epic was taking place all around me.”

After getting his Kundalini awakened Patrick, along with some emotional and physical ups and downs continues getting experiences of high consciousness, especially that of oneness or the appearing of cosmic archetypes. The descriptions of these experiences are not only exciting but also highly meditative and make a true feast for a seeker.

The quote which says it best:

“I had to laugh at ponderous intrigues of religious and occult mystery that had so fascinated humanity down through the centuries. Secret knowledge and ancient riddles where the stuff of mind and matter; the truth was far more fantastic than we could have imagined, and it had been staring us in face all the time”.

The book is a must read for anyone with drug experience but not only, even an ordinary seeker can find a lot to ponder,  wonder and enjoy.

This post is a bit fun, just to show how stereotypes work.

Today psychology has become such a common place knowledge that everyone believes to be able to make “psychological” notes on subject. A common place judgment like” oh, i know he is like this because of this problems with the father” or “aha, she likes to be beautiful because she lacks self-esteem and cannot value her looks as it is” and stuff like that. Sure you heard similar things many times.

How I have a puzzle for you: What would you say of a person who does not want to drive a car/make a driving license? As we know in the West almost everyone drives after 18, and this is such a regular thing and practically a must. It is almost a possible to meet a person without driving license. That is why if someone cannot drive people make  big eyes and start thinking what is the “problem” the person might have… A home-made psychologists usually give this judgement: “if the person does not wat to drive it means he/she is not responsible, probably self-doubting,  does not want to make decisions and to drive self confidently on the roads of life.”

And what would you suggest? Why anyone would avoid driving?

Well to peep behind the Curtain of Future is always tempting and today I came across the most inspiring prophecy for the end of 2012. Please read on:

2012 – the end? Nop, just the beginning

Through the history, each year, each era had its events done mostly by people.

Copernicus found out the earth to be round, Columbus discovered America, Einstein put together the theory of relativity and recently man landed robots on Mars.

2012 will be a different kind of year.

And people will have nothing to do with it. Things will start happening to us.

People that never wrote an article will start writing books. Nonreligious people will start talking about God.

While we still have our free will, while we can still make a mess of our lives as we did for tens of thousands of years, this will not be as easy anymore. Not because we can’t. We can, alright.

Because for once in the history we’ll start understanding ourselves. We’ll understand what is the point of being here, what is our role, our aim, our purpose.

Hate will be less, love will be more. And not because somebody preached it to us or because we read a book about it. Just because hate will not make sense anymore.

Hurting other people will obviously look as it really is: something bad.

The smoke of ignorance will be slowly removed by the cool breeze of divinity.

When one does something bad, it is 100% out of ignorance. Our so called sins are also because of our ignorance. And ignorant we are, 100%.

As you are not upset when a blind man bumps into you, divinity is not mad at us when we make a mistake, after mistake, after mistake.

Each mistake had a lesson to be learned.

Each swamp we lived in made us appreciate the beauty of the clean, blue ocean.

Each dark life we lived, made us appreciate the beauty of a sunrise.

And 2012 will be the year of the sunrise.

Even if clouds are covering the sky of our consciousness, they cannot hide the light of divinity.

2012 is truly the end of the world as we know it. And that is a good thing.

Our world full of hate, wars, corrupt politicians, greedy businessmen, messed up families, abandoned children is going to end. Pain, disease, hunger, natural disasters is not what the divinity had in mind for us.

A new world is slowly starting. One in which we’ll start to see, one in which we’ll understand.

No person is different than another, no religion is more religious than the other. No person is richer or poorer as we all have the world as inheritance.

2012 will be a good year, but not as good as 2013 that will be nothing compared to 2014.

Each day will be a better day than the one before it, even if we might not notice it. But we will notice.

The bad thoughts will be gone as the origin of the bad thoughts will disappear. They never belonged to us so we are not to be blamed or feel guilty.

We just did not know better as our eyes were not in right order.

As an out of focus camera cannot record correctly a video for no fault or its own, so we are out of tune with the reality. Not for long though.

The master musician is out at work to tune us, adjust us so that the music of the heavens can be played through us.

We’ll begin to do things we never thought we could. Some of us will write books and be amazed at their content as we’ll not recognize it as our own. Some will play music instruments, some will sing beautifully.

But more than that, we’ll start enjoying life. It will all make sense, for the first time. Life will make sense, every day will be joyous. What else is there to want?

What should we do about it? Nothing, just enjoy the trip, enjoy the symphony the Composer is writing as we speak.

Each of us is no more, no less than an instrument in the musical piece He is creating.

There is much fuss over the end of 2012 and many people are confused and scared. Among endless articles on this tpic I came across one really interesting one which I would like to share with you.

Carlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq’ij (is a ceremonial prieCarlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq’ij (is a ceremonial priest and spiritual guide) of the Eagle Clan. Carlos initiated an investigation into the different Mayan calendars circulating. Carlos along with his brother Gerardo studied with many teachers and interviewed nearly 600 traditional Mayan elders to widen their scope of knowledge.

Carlos Barrios: “Anthropologists visit the temple sites and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It’s just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed.”

Well indeed many commentors speak also of transformation on the spiritual level.

He continues: “Humanity will continue, but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human. We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies. All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this era is action.”

At sunrise on December 21, 2012 for the first time in 26,000 years the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the world’s spiritual traditions.

Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the Earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it, raising all to a higher level of vibration. Carlos reminds us: “This process has already begun. Change is accelerating now and it will continue to accelerate.

If the people of the Earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape without having destroyed too much of the Earth, we will rise to a new, higher level. But to get there we must transform enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way.”

And now here comes a note which I already addresses in some earlier posts, I was wondering why good people do not join together? It’s interesting how the Mayan Elder gets to that too:

“Right now each person and group is going his or her own way. The elder of the mountains said there is hope if the people of the light can come together and unite in some way. We live in a world of polarity — day and night, man and woman, positive and negative. Light and darkness need each other. They are a balance.”

“Just now the dark side is very strong, and very clear about what they want. They have their vision and their priorities clearly held, and also their hierarchy. They are working in many ways so that we will be unable to connect with the spiral Fifth World in 2012.”

“On the light side everyone thinks they are the most important, that their own understandings, or their group’s understandings, are the key. There’s a diversity of cultures and opinions, so there is competition, diffusion, and no single focus.”

Carlos believes the dark side works to block unity through denial and materialism. It also works to destroy those who are working with the light to get the Earth to a higher level. They like the energy of the old, declining Fourth World, the materialism. They do not want it to change. They do not want unity. They want to stay at this level, and are afraid of the next level.

The dark power of the declining Fourth World cannot be destroyed or overpowered. It’s too strong and clear for that, and that is the wrong strategy. The dark can only be transformed when confronted with simplicity and open-heartedness. This is what leads to unity, a key concept for the World of the Fifth Sun.”

So what do we have to do now?

“We are disturbed — we can’t play anymore. Our planet can be renewed or ravaged. Now is the time to awaken and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here for no reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. This is a hard but a special time. We have the opportunity for growth, but we must be ready for this moment in history.”

Carlos says: “The prophesied changes are going to happen, but our attitude and actions determine how harsh or mild they are.

The greatest wisdom is in simplicity. Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness. It’s not complex or elaborate. The real knowledge is free. It’s encoded in your DNA. All you need is within you. Great teachers have said that from the beginning. Find your heart, and you will find your way.”

It’s time for introspection. Let’s see what we have here. I suggest introspecting on strengths, not on weaknesses. Here is my list. 

1. I am forgiving. Or better to put I have no issue of forgiving because I never feel offended. This such a relaxing point for my brain: I do not hang on any person or situation.

2. I am giving and sharing.  Presents, attention, time…just love doing it!

3. I love people, this means I love to meet, to take care, to enjoy, to support, I took sincere interest in their lives.

4. I live in the present. I enjoy whatever I am doing at the moment. And I do it with dedication, keeping my full attention on the action. This brings great results. Seldom do I think of the past or future, this is not interesting for me.

5. I am self-disciplined. I am very determined as far as my tasks are concerned. At the same time I never set up any goals and never think of what I want to achieve in the future. Whatever comes my way I just follow and fulfill.

6. I manage things fast and in high quality, trying to fix every task as soon as it arrives. I know that procrastination is a tricky thing and once delayed something, it is hard to get on track with it.

7. I am surrendered. I do not break through a wall with my head if something does not work. I prefer to act like water, just to flow over/around in some soft manner or try something else.

8. I love beauty: I decorate myself and everything around me. Beauty seems to me something much bigger than an optical illusion. Beauty is the essence of Love, I belive. Ultimately we can all be each other’s decoration.

9. I always try to see a bigger picture, never stuck on small details and reasons. Of course we can never know the real reason behind anything but knowing and understanding the backgrounds gives a lot. And after all it helps not go get stuck in judgements or fanaticism. May be because of that I am quite immune against all kinds of false knowledge and charismatic manipulators.

10. I feel the Oneness of the Whole, every minute the connection between all of us, between all things. I feel that this is a huge Drama, a complex scenery which I can watch, enjoy and play my tiny little part in it.

There is a huge modern trend in the West, a trend to desire. Various psychological and pseudo-spiritual practices tell you that you only have to desire (put a picture of your desirable object on your wall, dream about it, etc) and with the time your thoughts will “attract” the thing you desire. And- yes! -for many people who try this method out it comes true.

Little do they think that this “works” probably due to some totally different rule…

Typical for the western ego-oriented mind we tend to think that the world runs around us. A very self-centred thinking. When step aside of that idea and take a look at he bigger picture, we can see a different image.

We can see that we all act in a huge cosmic play, according to a certain plan. There is scenario for everyone, every role is predestined. The only question is how good we are able to play our roles.

Since my early youth I have been trying to understand how this whole thing works. I have been watching and analyzing the events in my and other’s lives. And the conclusion I came to is the following.

We do not have desires. everything we desire is BECAUSE it has to happen. We desire something what is already programmed for us. This explains also why many people have “sudden” desires, spontaneously they want to do/to see/to get something which often changes their lives. It gets even more interesting when people “desire” something but do not do anything about it and finally it happens the way they “wanted”. I am sure you can list here many examples on it.

Thus there is no desire, only the “reading” of the destiny’s messages.

There is an old Sufi story when two Sufi masters who once started their way together and then parted, met again. They asked each other about the results of their spiritual practice.

One told: “Whatever I desire, it always happens.”

And the other said: “I have no desires. I am just the instrument of God’s desires. Whatever Divine desires, happens through me.”

Destiny…what a mysterious subject! For ages together human beings have been trying to uncover this enigma. Does a thing like Destiny exist? Is it all written somewhere before-hand for us? Or can we designour future according to our will?

My limited yet experience-based understanding is the following.

I belive my life is like a broad road. Within this road there are plenty of variation, various paths. I can go straight or curly, walk closer to the edge or just in the middle of it….The possibilites are may but they all exist within certain boundaries.

When I do something about myself, work on my qualities and improve in many ways, I keep walking the same road but I manage it easier, faster, more comfortable. If I don’t – I can experience some less pleasant things, but still they are all within this certain scenario of my life.

Such thing as the Destiny does exist, I am sure.

But what about the desires? Don’t they help to design our life-image? Pleas check the next post for one unexpected answer .
