Your Heart: is it weak or strong?

It is not merely romantic nonsense to say that the heart is the seat of your love and compassion. It is a fact. We open our heart to those that are closest to us both in a physical way (by demonstration of affection and generous action) and in a subtle way though the feeling of tenderness and overwhelming concern we have for them.

We say someone is closed hearted when they seem uncaring and selfish, and we call them open hearted when they give to all without a question. These are real examples of power of the heart to help or hinder our enjoyment of life.

A weak heart chakra can show up in may different ways, for example through mean spirited actions, or though deep insecurities which drive us to be selfish through fear. We can find evidence of a weak heart centre in those who are overly neurotic or frail, or in those who question everyone`s motives. Even overly ascetic people can be victims of this problem. Say it! Or the impact of blogging.

Have many people really contribute to the Internet content? Apparently, Only 1% of user generate Web 2.0 content. I wonder if this tendency will change, for I noticed something interesting about my own user-behaviour.

Since I am blogging, I realise the value of a comment. I love getting comments (who does not?) but I also love giving them! In fact, I noticed that my awareness for commenting, and generally for creating my content has grown enormously since I started blogging. I develop myself to the even more active user and  - finally - global community member. Continue reading ‘Say it! Or the impact of blogging.’

Female Voting or “babysitter” candidate test for US Elections

A good friend of mine Pryanka Joshi, an Indian journalist in America posted her impressions of attending one Obama´s performance. She says she is ”not covering the Obamamania” and yet she preferrs him over Hillary.

As an honest journalist, Pryanka asks if there is actually something more behind the charisma and the Obama`s spirit of “change”:

Lo and behold, in no time, this is what the first voter results started saying too, and it took no time for the candidates to start saying they were the ones with “real change” on their minds.

But, what ARE those new ideas? Where are they? Are they too afraid to be shot down? Are these candidates’ offices full of spin doctors, and poll pundits? Why do they not employ think tanks to come up with solutions to global problems? What is their answer to Outsourcing? To the war? To Pakistan? To education? We’re hearing, “Ya, we’ve gonna do great things”, but have no idea what they may be?!? How can they convince a whole country to vote them into power without concretely sharing their ideas? Isn’t that absurd?

All these questions are very reasonable, but… That passage reminds me of an abstract from one modern Russian novel where one young woman is thinking of voting for the Russian president. Continue reading ‘Female Voting or “babysitter” candidate test for US Elections’

Peace is a combination of several factors

We all seek peace in one form or another. Some look for it through nature`s beauty, others take refuge in music or the arts. Some dedicate their lives to the search for inner peace through retreats, austerity and contemplation. One thing that is clear, however, is that real peace comes only from within. We can try and trigger this feeling artificial stimulus or by choosing our environment with care, but in the end, if there is no peace inside, nothing can work to make it happen to us.

The truth is that peace is a combination of several factors, which separately play different roles in our lives, but when mixed together form a blanket of serenity which rejuvenates, invigorates and calms.

 - In the first place, we need to surrender to the moment. This means that we must focus on every split second of out time without worrying about the future or the past.

- In addition we need to lose our expectations, we should demand nothing and enjoy everything.

- Finally we must learn how to be totally content, without guilt, fear or desire.

These are easy tings to write, but are clearly extremely difficult to achieve, which is where our yoga meditation comes into play. Continue reading ‘Peace is a combination of several factors’

Makarenko: the jewel of education

If you have been visiting my blog for some time, you might have noticed that I am interested in various topics like spirituality, beauty, linguistics, politics, culture, business and poetry. But one of my biggest passions was still hidden from the all perwading Internet power: pedagogics.

Educating and actually upbringing the children seem to be one of the most important human activities, although little respected in many societies. I dream one day to dedicate my life fully to that fascinating and absolutely wonderful task.

Since my studies and early work experience I was keen on pedagogics in theory and practice. I studied the main schools and educational traditions and was able to try something out. And now I want to share with you the system that I like the most, the system that seem to me the most suitable for the generations to come. Continue reading ‘Makarenko: the jewel of education’

Putin Q&A to TIME magazine and what I like about it

 photo: TIME

Last week Russian President Vladimir Putin was chosen TIME’s 2007 Person of the Year. What a scandal! The Austrian press even forgot to write about a damage of one Alpine oil tube and ecological consequences of it while negative featuring Russian President.

I was actually going to post something about the unfair attitude to the Russians in the western media, even made up a nice title ( “Bad Russians everywhere, even in The Golden Compass Film”)… And here comes Mr. Putin, my dear President to help me out! :)

I really enjoyed reading his brilliant interview to the TIME magazine putting them all right, with the typical Russian directness, with dignity and self-confidence. Continue reading ‘Putin Q&A to TIME magazine and what I like about it’

How many bloggers use Facebook?

I keep getting invitations to Facebook. For some unknown to me reasons however I was avoiding registration there. And finally a friend has convinced me to try it out. And… may be I need more time but I found nothing special about that Facebook - actually more contras than pros!  - the layout is not attractive, I can not post my blog-posts and - the most terrifying  - they want SOOO much private information!

I said to my friend: “Honestly, I don’t understand all that hype about Facebook”   - he laughed and said “Sure! You are a blogger!” :)

Are bloggers really that much different from the other Social Network users? Continue reading ‘How many bloggers use Facebook?’

A right sided personality

In the yogic terminology there are 2 popular terms reflecting human nature - the so called right sided and left sided personality types. Here I wrote about the typical characteristics of a left sided personality. Now we come to the right side: A detailed description by  Nigel Powel .

“The right side(energetic) channel is our hot side and as such is associated with our tendencies towards action, the future and planning. It is also the side which is related to our feelings of responsibility, which can drive us to assume responsibility for something even if it has nothing to do with us directly.

Right sided people are very action oriented. They are always on the go, planning for this, organising that. Never a moment`s for peace and rest, happy only when doing. They are found of action in all its forms and can never sit still. Continue reading ‘A right sided personality’

The only thing that really makes me sad…

Sadness is not my friend. In fact, it is very seldom that I can be affected by that strange mood. However there is one thing that really makes me sad. One thing that lays at the core of all the human problems, I think. One thing that is well known and that is mostly taken as it is, as a natural and unavoidable: the lack of love.

One person calls another stupid and refuses to talk - for some ego-driven reason.

Another one takes something too personal and feels hurt.

The third one says: we are not here to love each other, but to work.

Sounds familiar? I bet it happens everywhere and any time. Continue reading ‘The only thing that really makes me sad…’
